As a Biology undergraduate at the University of Manchester, I attended the 2023 Rootstock summer school (organised by the Gatsby Plant Science Education Program, GPSEP), where I was introduced to the challenges and intricacies of studying plant science and the science communication strategies used by researchers in the field. I was eager to share my experience, but I didn’t want to start a blog just for myself. I wanted to create a space for my like-minded peers, who may also want to go a step further with their skills and create something of their own, but are hesitant to or don’t know where to start. That’s how I came to the idea of Plant Pals, a platform where anyone who wishes to showcase their creativity, enthusiasm, and writing skills can come together to do so, all the while raising awareness about the importance of plants in our lives!
